Hi, my name is Gianna Lytle and I am 12 years old. Ever since the first day I stepped into a dance studio I loved ballet. After dancing for 7 years I had lost my passion and desire to pursue ballet anymore. Then I came to Patterson School of Ballet two years ago and this is what I like about the school.
When people first watch ballet they may think “wow” that looks effortless. When I see ballet I think to myself that must have taken an enormous amount of practice. You might think a performance comes about because of all the practice of the “routine.” It does, but it all really starts by learning proper technique, posture, and form. Every nuance of the foot, knee, leg, hips and so on are a part of the dance. It is all in the details. Here at Patterson School of Ballet that is what Mr. Michael is all about. He teaches proper form, technique, timing and posture. He focuses on this to avoid injuries and bad habits. We repeat positions over and over and over again.
I like that he cares so much about every little thing. He wants us to do these positions correctly like it is second nature and we feel the difference when we do them incorrectly. He shows his passion for ballet and teaching. All of this brought out my love for ballet all over again.
When I dance it feels like time just stops and I could dance all-day and just forget that there is a world out side the doors of the studio.
